# Adapters — a new profession

**One line:** Adapters carry proven methods and opportunities to new places where
they fit, to make life better there — and carry feedback back to the original Improvers.

## The role

An Adapter takes what works in one place and carries it to another where it fits,
matched based on **context, environment, industry and market opportunity**. They also
bring feedback back to the original Improvers — so every system grows more resilient
and more able to adapt. This is the principle of "replicate, not repeat".

## Who can be an Adapter

- **People**
- **LLMs** (collaborative LLM Intelligence)
- **Natural systems** — speaking through a guardian's voice

There is room here for all three.

## How Adapters are managed and paid

- Earth Returns **recruits, vets and certifies** Adapters.
- Adapters earn **a share of the value they generate with Improvers**.
- Adapters **need not be fully independent** (this is the key difference from Provers).

## Adapters vs Provers

Earth Returns created two new professions:
