# Provers & the PROVE Institute

**One line:** Provers are the independent verifiers — the immune system between the
riverbanks. Paid a fee, never a share of the outcome.

## The role

Provers verify PIE assessment claims. They are a **new profession**, like accountants
and auditors. They let verified improvement outcomes cross from Earth Returns' work to
the KiniCo products at KiniGround, and stop everything that is not true from showing up
as a solution — so hype, promises and greenwash have no place to slip in and pretend
improvement is happening.

## Why independence is structural

A Prover is **paid a fee but never benefits from a PIE outcome**. Because there is
no share of the result to win, and because the outcomes they verify are reliably real
and actionable by others, there is nothing for greenwash to cover up.

## The PROVE Institute

The professional body for Provers is the **PROVE Institute** (proveinstitute.com).
It holds the standards, the register of certified Provers, and the code of conduct
that keeps verification clean.

## Relationship to the rest of the system

- Provers verify (independent).
- Adapters advise, develop and coach (may participate in value; see adapters.md).
- Earth Returns builds and manages KiniCos and buys in with its own PIE Points.
- The Fund invests capital (see fund.md).
